A PLC is a stand-alone unit that can control one or more machines and is connected to them by cables. On the other hand, in an embedded control architecture the controller — which is almost always a printed circuit board (PCB) — is located inside the machine it controls.

Power quality is the ability of a power grid to supply power to the consumers efficiently and it also expresses the ability of an equipment to consume the power being supplied to it. In technical terms, power quality is the measure, study and enhancement of sinusoidal waveform at the rated voltage and frequency.
Transducers and transmitters are virtually the same thing, in that both Transmitter and Transducer are devices which convert one form of energy into another form and give an output signal. The main difference being the kind of electrical signal each sends. A transducer sends a signal in volts (V) or millivolt (mV) and a transmitter sends a signal in milliamps (mA).

Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) is a compact, hot-pluggable network interface module format used for both telecommunication and data communications applications. An SFP interface on networking hardware is a modular slot for a media-specific transceiver, such as for a fiber-optic cable or a copper cable. The advantage of using SFPs compared to fixed interfaces (e.g. modular connectors in Ethernet switches) is that individual ports can be equipped with different types of transceivers as required.

A flow computer is a specialized type of computer that uses complex calculations to interpret the data from flow meters and to calculate and record the volume of a particular flowing substance at a particular point in time. Flow computers can be used for gases or liquids and are in demand across various industries.
